On Forgiveness:
“Forgiveness is the most powerful thing that you can do for your physiology and your spirituality, and it remains one of the least attractive things to us, largely because our egos rule so unequivocally. To forgive is somehow associated with saying that it is all right, that we accept the evil deed. But this is not forgiveness. Forgiveness means that you fill yourself with love and you radiate that love outward and refuse to hang onto the venom or hatred that was engendered by the behaviors that caused the wounds.”
Wayne Dyer

Gays and God
GAYS AND GOD spirituality group begins this summer, hosted by First and Central Presbyterian. Larry Peterson and Doug Gerdts are the
facilitators. It is our intention that the group will include anyone from any church or faith system that wishes to explore what it means to be gay
and have a relationship with God.
We will meet for a planning meeting at First and Central Presbyterian (across from the Hotel DuPont in Wilmington), 7 p.m. on 13 June. At this
meeting we will decide our future meeting times, locations, and dates, decide how often we wish to meet, and select our initial series of topics.
In our initial couple of meetings, we intend to explore the various scriptures used both to denounce or support homosexuality. Then, we may
view one or more documentaries on Christians and Homosexuality. Then, we think we would like to discuss topics within various books that explore
what is unique about being gay and spiritual as well as share our own journeys of faith and frustrations.
We do have a grant to provide books for participants who are unable to purchase books if we do decide to discuss any particular book as a whole.
We do welcome Jewish and Christian folk as well as anyone else who wishes to share our journey.

Saturday Wisdom
In life, the one thing we all pray for most is freedom. Freedom from money, laws, and the freedom to be happy with no restraint or fear. We have the ability to live in little moments of freedom as we strive for the greater moments of freedom for others; and it is in those daily expressions of freedom one discovers the meaning of life. You are freer than you think.

Colors Meeting (3/23/2012)
115 Christina Landing, Wilmington, DE/Christiana Towers
We all agree about the importance to bring awareness to many sensitive subjects that affect the GBLTQ community. As we, look to overcome hate crime related offenses, we are also seeking to find ways to educate and be part of a solution in hopes of creating a friendly bond between students, campus faculty members and the general public.
Our goal is to empower our students and teach them that “it will get better”, no matter what challenges “we” are facing, together we can bring fruitful change.
As we begin this journey to bring on change in our campus, we are getting ready to formally introduce our new club “Colors”, to our campus and others interested in attending. In light of spring approaching, it only felt right to name this event: “GBLTQ MIXER”.
LOCATION: 115 Christina Landing Drive Wilmington, DE
One of the two towers on the river front. Just following Market street from town. Take the first left after you go over the bridge. The event will take place in the club house of the first floor.
As a friendly reminder, please help spread the word to our professors, and our classmates, you can also post it on your Facebook page.
We hope you can join us.

Tasty Tuesday: Mardi Gras
Fatten yourself up for Fat Tuesday (aka Mardi Gras)
BEIGNETS
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups lukewarm water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 envelope active dry yeast
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1 cup evaporated milk
7 cups bread flour
1/4 cup shortening
Nonstick spray
Oil, for deep-frying
3 cups confectioners' sugar
Directions
Mix water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl and let sit for 10 minutes.
In another bowl, beat the eggs, salt and evaporated milk together. Mix egg mixture to the yeast mixture. In a separate bowl, measure out the bread flour. Add 3 cups of the flour to the yeast mixture and stir to combine. Add the shortening and continue to stir while adding the remaining flour. Remove dough from the bowl, place onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. Spray a large bowl with nonstick spray. Put dough into the bowl and cover with plastic wrap or a towel. Let rise in a warm place for at least 2 hours.
Preheat oil in a deep-fryer to 350 degrees F.
Add the confectioners' sugar to a paper or plastic bag and set aside.
Roll the dough out to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut into 1-inch squares. Deep-fry, flipping constantly, until they become a golden color. After beignets are fried, drain them for a few seconds on paper towels, and then toss them into the bag of confectioners' sugar. Hold bag closed and shake to coat evenly.

Just a thought
Don't burden yourself with fear because you have to go on a journey. The journey is inevitable, we all have to walk it. Stand up, acknowledge your destination and start walking. You'll discover how cumbersome fear really can be after you've walked over that first obstacle. You will soon discover that fear will be dropped behind you piece by piece

A Note to Consider
This letter was sent to Delaware GLU's Facebook page from Mary Post:
Hello everyone,
As you may not know, I am on the board of the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence. We are looking at “revisiting” the GL concerns task force that was in existence about 3 or 4 years ago. We are looking to have a meeting in March 2012 in order to explore if a task force for GLBT concerns would be something of use in Delaware or if there are other avenues to assist in helping members of the community who are experiencing Domestic Abuse/Violence in their relationships.
At this point we do see a need to educate the community that same-sex partners can get Protection from Abuse through Family Courts as well as educating those who work in the field about being GLBT friendly through their use of language, signage and inclusiveness. There are concerns about the shelter systems, not just in Delaware, but all over the country and if they are able to work well with our community and see the unique needs that we face.
The idea is to have a discussion – a needs assessment if you will – to help us determine the best way to move forward. As I wrote the meeting most likely will be in March of 2012. I do not have the location yet but I know that we can arrange for teleconferencing.
If you know of anyone who would like to attend this meeting or would like more information please contact me. We are looking for community service providers, therapists, shelter workers, advocates, members of faith communities, etc. – so PLEASE FORWARD THIS!!
My information is below.
Thank you,
Mary
